Summary
Burgess recruitment is currently seeking a Mate/Deckhand for a 30m sailing yacht
The ideal candidate must have experience on 24m–30m sailing yachts and be confident handling in-boom furling systems. This is a hands-on position that involves assisting with sailing operations, deck maintenance, tender handling, and supporting the Captain with navigation and passage planning. Knowledge of yacht systems maintenance is highly valuable.
Requirements
• Experience on 24m–30m sailing yachts
• Strong sailing background with knowledge of rigging and deck systems.
• In-boom furling system experience is essential.
• RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or equivalent (preferred).
• STCW & ENG1 certification (valid).
• Tender driving experience (PWC or Powerboat Level 2 preferred).
• Hardworking, hands-on, and a team player.
• Basic knowledge of yacht system maintenance (electrical, plumbing, hydraulics) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with all sailing operations, including sail handling, trimming, and maneuvering.
• Maintain and operate in-boom furling systems (Leisure Furl, Hall Spars, Southern Spars, or similar).
• Perform regular deck maintenance (cleaning, polishing, teak care, etc.).
• Assist with docking, anchoring, and tender operations.
• Support the Captain with navigation and passage planning as needed.
• Ensure safety procedures and emergency protocols are followed.
• Assist with guest services and water sports activities when required.
• Work closely with the small, professional crew to maintain high standards of operation and teamwork.
• Help with basic maintenance of yacht systems (electrical, plumbing, hydraulics) as needed.
Start date: Mid/End March
Durational: Seasonal-can turn permanent
Location: Greece
Salary: EUR 4000
The yacht is for private use only during the Mediterranean summer season and operates with a crew of four
