This course is one of 4 courses which make up the MCA's Large Yacht Helideck Safety Training Syllabus for helideck crews onboard large commercial yachts, including Helicopter Landing Officers (HLOs) and Helideck Assistants (HDAs). This course continues on from the Helideck Procedures & Emergency Response course to focus on the developing existing HDAs into capable HLOs onboard large commercial yachts.
The aim of this MCA-accredited course is to train HLOs to lead the helideck team onboard, when conducting a Standard and Emergency Operating Procedures (SOPs & EOPs). As the leader of the helideck, the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) plays a crucial role towards safe and efficient helicopter operations onboard. The HLO can act as Helideck Safety Manager, Operations Manager, Facilities Manager and Training Manager.
Trainees must have completed the following, prior to attending this module:
- STCW 95 Advanced Fire Fighting
- HDA Qualified – Large Yacht Helicopter Procedures & Emergency Response and Large Yacht Helideck Fire Fighting Courses completed or equivalent as authorised by the MCA
- Practical experience performing the duties of an HDA
The practical sessions utilise our bespoke helicopter Ground Training System (GTS) to add realism to the training, for courses run at our UK site. If the training is delivered onboard a client's yacht, this will include practical training using the yacht's helideck equipment, wherever possible.
Prices are per delegate but discounts are available for group bookings and for booking multiple courses for concurrent delivery. Please contact us for more information or to book.
