RYA VHF Marine Radio (SRC)

RYA VHF Radio GMDSS - Short Range Certificate (SRC) course and exam.

This course covers both basic marine VHF radio operation and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System procedures using Digital Selective Calling. Our dedicated classroom is fully equipped with a range of GMDSS equipment fitted with dummy loads in order that they may be used in a training environment. The use of real equipment rather than the computer simulator used by many other training centres enables our students to get good hands-on experience and hear ‘real’ calls and messages being sent.

Location: Classroom at the National Sports Centre.

Course Structure

We will send you your G31 course booklet to study before attending. The course runs from 0830hrs to 1630hrs and is followed immediately by the exam. This has to be carried out by an independent examiner. We hope to be finished by 1830hrs but sometimes earlier (student numbers depending).

Useful Information

You will need to bring a passport photograph and the licence fee of currently £60 (payable by card or cheque to the RYA) on the day of your course.

Our classroom is easy to find from both the M4 and M40 by car. Public mainline railway stations are located in nearby Maidenhead or High Wycombe and we are only 35 minutes from London/Heathrow Airport.

A light light can be purchased at the onsite restaurant or you can bring your own.
