We have a fantastic opportunity for a Naval Architect to join a prestigious yacht design and build company, you will be leading the Naval Architecture of the vessels as the company expands.
Having already grown in 2023, this company is looking to take on several more people to grow their team!
MAIN DUTIES
Working within the design team on a variety of engineered systems and structural designs.Supporting the design and development of major component structural design, working with our external Naval Architecture partner.Ownership and control of weight estimate documentation, tracking and reporting.Ownership of all homologation documentation, tracking and reporting.Ensure that the product complies with all relevant Codes, Classifications, and liaison withcertifying bodies.Interpreting and analysing data and test resultsWriting reports and documentationUndertaking relevant research for future technologies, or composite development.Providing technical adviceChecking calculations and analysis for all structural, trim/floatation/hydrodynamic aspects supplied by our Naval Architecture partner.Aiding the design team in the successful delivery of all New Product Introduction, and Model Year upgrade projects.Creation of mould construction and installation drawings where required.Working with a team of designers / external contractors / naval architects, to optimise the overall design and build efficiency.Be able to produce full production drawings, including detailed construction drawings, system drawings / schematics / Specification documents and installations, to enable the production teams and external contractors to efficiently produce the yacht and its components.Have a clear understanding of materials, BOM’s.A good knowledge of marine systems used throughout yachts.The ability to work on multiple projects.Occasional travel between design and manufacturing sites will be required.To liaise with other departments within the business to ensure designed components, meet target costing and Production expectancy.To be able to work effectively with the production team to discuss any design requirements and issues.Attend various meetings and support Design For Manufacture and Assembly reviews, including any necessary testing activity.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Degree level qualification in Naval Architecture.Prior Naval Architectural design experience essentialAble to work with 3D CAD software – Siemens NX and Maxsurf preferred, or a similar 3D software package.Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM - Desirable.Design and practical experience within the motor/production yachting sector.Comprehensive knowledge of yacht production techniques and processes – DesirableRelevant shipyard/design office work experience is desirableAble to analyse and interpret technical information and drawings
