An opportunity for a Yacht Systems Design Engineer to join a market leading who design and build luxurious sailing yachts.
The role will involve 2D CAD to create system schematics, 3D CAD to route mechanical yacht systems and produce system layout and fabrication drawings for the production team to install the systems.
Working within a team of 3 people to provide production teams with build information to a schedule spanning 3 build sites, constructing semi-customisable yachts there are often demands for non-standard systems all of which offers varied work.
Requirements:
• Responsible for design and production information for all yacht/marine systems, integrating specified equipment.
• Working to a schedule for the systems team, ensuring deadlines for boats in build have all the information required.
• Daily use of CAD in 2D and 3D (AutoCAD 2D, Siemens NX).
• Working closely with the rest of the design team in different disciplines to ensure that the systems integration considers the rest of the components in the boat builds.
• Continuous development through Production improvements.
Knowledge & Skills required:
• Fair understanding off all yacht mechanical systems, their purpose and components
• Practical knowledge from a marine background is preferred
• Knowledge of all common types of mechanical yacht systems desirable for an easy start in the role.
• Good understanding of technical engineering drawings, and interpretation of supplier equipment datasheets/operation
• Understand the components of yacht systems.
• Good ability to interpret technical OEM drawings.
• Demonstrated CAD skills (use Autocad and Siemens NX preferred, but parametric 3D modelling required).
• Competent user Microsoft Office (Excel and in particular)
• Sound background working with yachts / marine systems.
Qualifications required:
• Degree preferred in a related Engineering subject (HNC or HND considered).
