CEVNI Waterways Test/Assessment

This code is a United Nations instrument which unifies signs and signals and standardizes navigational procedures on the European Inland Waterways system. In order to obtain an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) for inland waters the CEVNI test must be undertaken.

At Bisham Abbey Sailing and Navigation School we are able to offer the CEVNI test for inland waters. In order to undertake the CEVNI test you will require full knowledge of the European Waterways Regulation booklet; this is available through the School at £11.00 inc. p+p per copy to students undertaking the test at our centre. We also stock CEVNI Flip-cards which are designed to help learn the CEVNI signs, symbols and lights displayed; these form a major part of the CEVNI regulations. The CEVNI cards can prove extremely useful when learning and as an aide mémoire whilst actually navigating European waters. Flip cards are available through the School at £10.00 inc. p+p per set.

If you are confident that your knowledge and skills are to the required standard, the CEVNI test should present few problems. Comprising multi-choice questions, the CEVNI test should be completed in a relatively short time, however, we suggest that you allow a maximum of three hours.

Upon receipt of your payment and booking form we will send, by return, your copy of the CEVNI regulations and/or CEVNI flipcards if you have ordered them. You will need to study these in depth as preparation for the CEVNI test.  At Bisham Abbey CEVNI Tests can either be taken on a 'CEVNI test only' basis which should take a matter of hours (provided you have the necessary knowledge or have studied the book) or you can tack the CEVNI test onto the your International Certificate of Competence one or two day practical course
