ICC International Certificate of Competence

We offer three types of direct assessment exams to enable you to qualify for an ICC. The certificate received is valid for 5 years and is issued free to RYA members after completion of the assessment or course. Please contact us directly to join the RYA. Please note that in order to obtain an ICC you must be a British National or resident or a National of Canada or USA.

Three to four hour exam: If you feel you already have enough experience in powerboating, then this exam is for you. You have the option to use Ibizamed’s 7.5m Scorpion RIB, or choose to learn on your own boat.

Level 2 course: If you have little or no experience in powerboating then this course is for you. You have the option to use Ibizamed’s 7.5m Scorpion RIB, or choose to learn on your own boat.

Direct assessment client boat! (1/2 day): €295 + 21% IVA

Direct assessment school boat (1/2 day): €395 + 21% IVA

Ownboat tuition (2 days): €990 + 21% IVA

Minimum age: 16 years old

Nationality: Only available to British residents or British national (a British citizen, a British overseas territories citizen, a British overseas citizen, a British national (overseas), a British subject or a British protected person) as well as Nationals of Canada or USA

Documents required: A completed copy of the ICC application, a passport photo, along with evidence of residency (if you are a British resident) or copy of your passport or national identity for everyone else

ICCs offered for: Powerboat up to 10 meters and Motor cruisers up to 24 meters

What assessment do you need? This depends on your level of experience. If could be anything from a three/four hour exam to a three day course. We will advise you on this. Please see page 2 of the ICC form on the RYA website, which we can send you

Please note: The certificate will cost you £40 for non RYA members and free for RYA members
