RYA Powerboat Level 1

This one day course provides an introduction to boating techniques for everyday boat handling, the use of safety equipment and an introduction to navigation. You have the option to use Ibizamed’s 7.5m Scorpion RIB, or choose to learn on your own boat. It is suitable for adults and young people from 8 years upwards. It can either be taken as a stand-alone course or Integrated into the two-day Level 2 course.

Course Based at: Marina Ibiza

Course price: €325 + 21% IVA

Course duration: 1 day

Minimum age: 8 years old. Candidates under the age of 16 years old will be issued with an endorsed certificate

Pre-course experience / requirements: None

Course content:

• Preparation – launching and recovering, (8-11 year olds observe) safety equipment, prestart checks and personal buoyancy

• Boat handling and manoeuvres – starting and stopping, use of kill cord, steering controls, securing to a buoy, leaving and coming alongside and being towed

• Theory and background – IRPCS, rope work and awareness of other water users

Course includes: Course certificate, RYA start powerboating book, instructor, boat hire, mooring and fuel

Ability after course: Once you have passed the course you will able to use a powered craft in daylight and favourable weather conditions. Children under 16 must be under the supervision of a responsible adult onboard

What to bring with you: Suitable shoes (i.e. not black soled) waterproof jacket, sun visor, id/ passport, passport photo and money for food & refreshments
