RYA Powerboat Level 2

This two-day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. You have the option to use Ibizamed’s 7.5m Scorpion RIB, or choose to learn on your own boat. It is suitable for adults and young people from 12 years old upwards.

Course price: €495 + 21% IVA

Course duration: 2 days

Minimum age: 12 years old. Candidates under the age of 16 years old will be issued with an endorsed certificate

Pre-course experience / requirements: This course assumes knowledge of powerboat level 1, however it can be done without

Course content:

• Preparation – launching and recovering, equipment, lines and fenders and fuel tanks

• Boat handling and manoeuvres – effects of current or tide, high and low speed manoeuvring, propeller controls, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside and man overboard

• Theory and background – types of craft and engine, maintenance checks, IRPCS, weather forecasts and emergency action

Course includes: Course certificate, RYA start powerboating book, instructor, boat hire, mooring and fuel

Ability after course: Self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of craft. This course automatically qualifies you for an ICC (conditions apply)

What to bring with you: Suitable shoes (i.e. not black soled) waterproof jacket, sun visor, id/ passport, passport photo and money for food & refreshments
