Proficiency in Security Awareness (A-VI/6)

Progression: All seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on ships required to comply with the ISPS code are required to undertake the Proficiency in Security Awareness course.

Teaching and Assessment: This is a half day course with a practical and theoretical mixture giving candidates sufficient knowledge, understanding and skills enabling them to deal with security related issues on board ship. A cumulative multiple choice questionnaire.

Course content

•Recognise security threats

•Understand the need for and methods of maintaining security awareness through heightened awareness.

•Basic knowledge enabling recognition of weapons, dangerous substances and devices.
