Course Structure
The RYA Inland Waterways Crew Course (IWCC) is aimed at the novice wishing to learn more about how to be a useful and competent crew on board a motor boat cruising the inland waterways. It is suitable for those with little or no previous experience of the semi-displacement and displacement craft typically used on our rivers and canals. All aspects of crewing including safety, deckwork, lock operations, ropework, dealing with emergencies, basic boat handling and care of the environment are covered. The IWCC is suitable for those on board motor cruisers, narrowboats, widebeams or barges cruising the network of inland waterways both in the UK and abroad. The Inland Waters Crew Course usually involves one or two days training with continuous assessment, with the emphasis on safety and enjoyment.
